Internet Explorer 7.0
Internet Explorer version 7.0 is the latest version of Internet Explorer that includes the below new features:
- New look - A completely new look compared to previous versions of Internet Explorer
- Tabbed browsing - Tabbed browsing featured that has been found in other browsers is now also in Internet Explorer
- RSS improvements - Additional improvements to RSS
- Security improvements - Various new security improvements
Internet Explorer 6.0
Internet Explorer version 6.0 is an update to Internet Explorer 5.0 and includes the below new features:
- Toolbar features - New toolbar features and options
- Fixes / Security updates - Includes several new fixes and security updates that were not available in previous versions and/or were introduced in previous versions
In addition to the above new features, Internet Explorer 6.0 has all the features found in the previous versions.
Internet Explorer 5.0
Internet Explorer version 5.0 includes the below new features:
- Web Radio - A direct link and toolbar which can be enabled / disabled to listen to radio on the web
- Offline Browsing - Additional support for offline browsing
- Web Accessories - Adds the availability to customize Internet Explorer 5.0 with Additional add-ons
Along with all previous features of earlier versions of Internet Explorer, version 5.0 adds several new features not found in any other browsers.
Internet Explorer 4.0
Internet Explorer version 4.0 was released shortly before the release of Windows 98 and in addition, was included in all Windows 98 releases. Internet Explorer 4.0 added several new features not found in any other browsers such as:
- Additional Support - New features such as DHTML, Macromedia, Real Audio, and various other features not included in previous releases
- Active Desktop - Allowed users with Windows 95 / 98 to have their desktops as web sites, creating links and implementing several other features
- Channels - Like shortcut channels, allowed users to quickly get to the most popular web sites
In addition to the above features, Internet Explorer added several various other features and add-ons, making it an even more popular Web browser.
Internet Explorer 3.02
Before the initial release of Internet Explorer version 3.0 and 3.02, Netscape was the overall preferred browser because of the wide support and the lack of features not found in the previous version of Internet Explorer (version 2.0). However, Microsoft placed many more additional features and support for Internet Explorer, allowing it to become an even easier browser. In addition, Internet Explorer 3.02 was released with Windows 95, allowing the popularity to quickly spread because of the pre-installed browser.
