How to Create an E-mail Account in Outlook Express

Step 1: Let’s start with opening Outlook Express from the Start menu

• Click the Start button.
• Go to All Programs
• Click Outlook Express
• In case you want to set this specific account as your default account every time you start the email client Outlook Express, click yes and click no if you don’t want to go for such an option.

If you don’t want to be asked the same question over and over again, click to check the box saying ‘Always Check This’.

Step 2: Setting An Outlook Express E-mail Account

You must know the following information about your e-mail servers before you start the set up:

• Type of e-mail server you use. 
• The name of your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. 
• The name of your Outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server.
• Your email id and password.
• Check whether your ISP needs you to use ‘Secure Password Authentication’ to access your e-mail account.

After collecting the above mentioned information, follow the steps outlined below:
 

• Start Outlook Express,
• Go to Tools menu
• Click Accounts.
• Click Add followed by clicking Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard.
• Go to Your Name page of the wizard. Enter the name you want it to appear to the receivers.
• Click Next.
• Enter your email address on the Internet Explorer Address page followed by clicking Next.
• When you will come on the E-mail Server Names page, you simply need to fill the first block of information that you have garnered from your ISP earlier.
• Click Next.
• The next step requires you to enter your account name and password on the Internet Mail Logon Page. 
• Lastly, click Next followed by clicking Finish. 
  You’re ready to send your first email through Outlook Express.
