Mobile working ‘vital for small businesses’

Renato Bottini, head of business at 3 UK, said such firms need to be constantly on call and able to talk to customers 24 hours-a-day.
“When you talk to small businesses and you ask them about their habits and how they work, you understand that they don’t stop working,” he added.
“It’s critical for them to make sure their phones work, that they’re cost effective [and] that they’re always available.”
Mr Bottini went on to say it is especially important for small business owners to ensure they are easily reached by phone or email as they don’t have the luxury of appointing multiple staff to deal with things outside of hours.
The Vodafone Critical Response Time Index for 2008 indicates competition for business is getting so tight that putting off dealing with a call or email for half an hour can cost a firm thousands of pounds.
